Initial Training - Held in the Fall

Here is the schedule we followed in 2011:

The 6 sessions of the basic training cover:

Introduction to Disaster Preparedness

Emergency Medical Operations

Incident Command, Team Organization

Disaster Psychology

Terrorism & Sheltering in Place

Fire Suppression & Light Search and Rescue

 

Before Starting the Course

Participants will need to complete a registration form and a Hold Harmless form.  Completed forms can be dropped off at the New Canaan Police Station or brought to class the first session.

Upon Completion of the Course

Participants who successfully complete the full curriculum have the opportunity to volunteer as members of New Canaan CERT.  Members of New Canaan CERT are provided with a Red Cross backpack, basic disaster gear, a Town Identification Card, and can participate in additional training sessions.
